Headshot cropper

Crop and resize a headshot to the exact size LinkedIn, ERAS or a CV needs, under the file limit. Free, no sign-up, and the photo never leaves your device.

  1. 1. Pick the size you need.
  2. 2. Add a photo and drag it into place. Zoom until your head and shoulders fill the frame.
  3. 3. Make the file and download it.

Sizes come from each platform’s own published limits, checked for our photo spec registry and ERAS photo guide.

One square file between 512 and 1,024 px, under 1 MB, meets the published limits of all 13 platforms we track that publish any. The profile square is that file.

Want it to look like a studio portrait?

The cropper fixes size, not light. The DIY Headshots studio turns one photo into a retouched headshot for $1: studio light, a clean backdrop and work clothes if you like, with your face kept the same, then exports every size above.

Questions

What size should a LinkedIn profile photo be?
LinkedIn accepts JPG or PNG files from 400 to 4,320 pixels a side, up to 8 MB. The cropper's profile square, 1024 × 1024 under 1 MB, also fits Slack, GitHub, Zoom and X, so one file works everywhere.
What size is an ERAS photo?
The 2027 AAMC guide sets three rules: JPG/JPEG or PNG, at most 150 KB, and the face centered. It gives no pixel size. The safe file is 375 × 525 px (portrait, 5:7), JPEG, under 100 KB, which also meets older AAMC limits.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The cropper runs in your browser: the photo is read, cropped and saved on your device, and never sent to us or anyone else.
Why is my file smaller than the limit?
The cropper saves the highest JPEG quality that still fits the destination's file limit, so a simple background often comes out well under it. That's fine: the pixel size is exact.
Can it make my photo look professional?
No, it only crops and resizes. For studio light, a clean backdrop and work clothes, the DIY Headshots studio retouches one photo for $1 and keeps your face the same.
